Star Wars Preschooler

Unless you have been living under an Internet rock, you are familiar with the Star Wars Kid meme which circulated 5 or 6 years ago. People went to extraordinary lengths to take the original video (below) and adapt it into various alterations. If you haven’t seen it, or you need a refresher, check this out:

After having watched that video many times, I became quite familiar with the Kid’s awkward moves. Naturally, I was amazed when my 4 year-old son, Dax, busted out doing his own version the other day. He has never seen the Star Wars Kid video, but this looks eerily similar:

Yes, The Force is strong in this one (but I bet you knew I was going to say that).

What’s Been Happening

Let’s see…Back at the end of February, I got rehired by one of my previous employers, P3I, and am now the Web Developer/Windows Security person supporting the 14th Weather Squadron here in Asheville. Same place of work, slightly different position. I’m still doing mostly Linux system administration (RedHat and SuSE), but with the new Windows part of my title comes the duties of Sharepoint administration. I got to go to Atlanta for a week of Sharepoint training a few weeks ago, and I’m headed to DC for another week soon.

The Whappers continue to rock, and we finished our 3 song demo earlier this month. We have put the finishing touches on our press kit, so look for us starting to play out much more often soon!

Gray turns 5 in May, which is pretty crazy. Dax is 2.5 now. It’s amazing to watch them each develop the individual personalities. They have both reached the age where they play together, which is great during those times that Alicia and I need a little downtime.

Alicia has had several openings at the Merrimon Avenue Galleries, and she continues to sell many paintings and jewelry at the Kress Emporium. It seems her booth is one of the most popular. She has even branched out into finding old furniture, fixing it up, and painting it. Look for an updated web site soon.

I’ve been doing a good bit of side work still too. Nothing to show yet, but several projects are nearing completion.

I think that’s not all, but that’s all I can think of.

Recent Stuff

First, I’d like to point out the new Photo Gallery I put up here. I decided to start fresh, but look for more pictures (and video…yay!) soon.

September has been a more relaxed month in that I am no longer under the big deadline I was stressing out about in August. The web server nightmare and subsequent move to a new server has smoothed out rather well. I’ve had visits from family the last two weekends. And I’ve been playing some music here and there, which is always good. Most importantly, I’ve been doing fun things with the boys and Alicia since I haven’t had so much extra work to do.

I have a bunch of cool links to post soon, so check back.

Oh, in case you were wondering, we don’t need no stinking badges.

Beachin

Been at the beach this week, heading home tomorrow. Gray went fishing, kayaking, and crabbing for the first time. Dax collected little crabs and in an upside-down frisbee, undeterred by their little claws. Alicia and I got a little too much sun.

A New One

At long last, I have come close to finishing Alicia’s web site!

Thanks to June for the spiffy background image based on Alicia’s art, I think it’s looking pretty good. Alicia isn’t very happy with the quality of the photographs of her paintings though, as they look different from monitor to monitor, and none seem to capture what the paintings look like in real life. That’s just the way it goes with web design, unfortunately.

I’ll be changing content on there regularly, so check back often for Alicia’s latest works.

And starting June 1, Alicia will have a spot at the Kress Emporium in downtown Asheville!

Howdy, Neighbors

Now that the site has launched I’ve had a little time this weekend to sit down and catch up on some things. One of those things includes this blog!

A few of you might be interested in the new gallery of pictures I posted. Some of these are from our trip to Louisville a few weekends ago. You’ll see Gray having a ball at Bowman Field thanks to my old pal Jeremy.

The rest of the pics are just random adventures with the boys. I am seriously considering selling my Olympus C5050 in favor of something more compact that will slip into my pocket. I think I’d end up taking a lot more pictures this way.

So yeah…that’s that for now. Enjoy.
