This too shall pass.

The Ultimate Lock Picker Hacks Pentagon, Beats Corporate Security for Fun and Profit.
Being a former professional locksmith of 7 years, and an aficionado of the art of picking and bypassing locks, I found this article to hit pretty close to home. It is a fascinating look into the brain of a hacker — not the computer geek hacker, but a person who lives and breathes the true hacker ethic.
This is hilarious. What better way to deal with a bunch of racists jerkwads than to completely ridicule them and trivialize their hatred?
He said that Microsoft must be hoping that it gets Windows 7 right or it’s really in trouble.
As you may have noticed, I ditched my blog here at www.www.willchatham.com back in October in favor of trying out Tumblr. I ended up enjoying the Tumblr service, and I will probably still use it occasionally.
However, WordPress 2.7 came out, and after trying it on some of my other blog sites, I soon realized I really wanted THIS site to have it again.
So, here I am, with a brand new theme to boot!
I have a few things I plan on doing to spruce this place up, including a brand new message board. That’s right–it’s the return of the Gangsta Haiku Repository!
Stay tuned…
I can’t count how many times I’ve heard people laugh about how Al Gore said he created the Internet. Not that I’m sticking up for him or anything, but he never really claimed to have invented the Internet, so it irks me when people perpetuate that myth.
As this cool Neatorama article entitled 10 Things You Should Know About the Internet explains, Gore actually had a hand in helping to legislate initiatives that allowed the Internet to proliferate, though he never claimed to have invented it. The article is well worth the read, as it explains a bunch of neato things that you should know about the “information superhighway” (a term that Gore actually <em>did</em> invent).
Out of all the awesome, free applications (and the crappy ones too) I’ve been trying out in the new Apps Store with my iPod Touch, the best by far is the Worspress app. I’m using it now to write this post.
It supports tags, categories, editing previous posts, post status, images, AND multiple blogs. I was floored when I read all that, and am more floored now that I’m using it.
Wow is all I can say!
The band I’ve been playing with since October finally has a name, and it is The Whappers.
Naturally, we have an official The Whappers web site (set up by yours truly) and the obligatory Myspace page too.
Last, but certainly not least, we will be playing this Saturday in Asheville at the Emerald Lounge on lower Lexington Avenue downtown. Let the face melting begin.
In a previous post I wrote titled Searching For Songs, I lamented about not being able to find a song from an 80’s punk band about a kid getting trapped in a refrigerator. Every few months I would do a Google search to see if anything new had been indexed by that wonderful tool of discovery.
I finally hit the jackpot. Through some amazing eruption of forgotten information from my sub conscience, I recalled a line of the song and was able to locate this post by a guy named Glen Case. The song is called Refigerator Heaven, as it turns out, and the band that recorded it is called The Freeze – an outfit from Boston. Moments later, I had obtained the song from the iTunes music store.
How happy am I to finally be able to hear this song again after 22 years of absence? As happy as a baby Psychlo on a straight diet of Kerbango, dog!
On a side note, Mr. Jeter was able to supply me with the other long lost song I had been searching for. I need Mr. Jeter to contact me with his address so I can send him his LP’s back, along with the digitally converted versions from my USB turntable!!!
On the Dell website, they detail all the cool stuff Michael Dell has in his personal tech arsenal. I was suprised to see his primary laptop runs Ubuntu Linux, Open Office, and Firefox. Guess he’s as fed up with Window as the rest of us!
Speaking of (free) alternatives to (upgrades from) Microsoft products, Thunderbird 2 is out! I have been eagerly waiting for this, as it will introduce some cool new features, such as the ability to tag your messages with keywords. Ooh! I gotta go upgrade now…I’ll let you know how it goes!
